I build my own personal computers. Some are suprised when I tell them I build my own, but it's really easier than most people think. If you want to get started building your own PC, I suggest the books and websites of Robert Bruce Thompson. One of his more recent books, Building the Perfect PC, is perfect for beginners. I really appreciate his component choices, because he has been testing PC hardware for years and really knows what works and what doesn't.
